Black History play Saturday and Sunday in Boardman

Method 8 Studio will host a performance at its studio on the second floor of 4800 Market St., in honor of Black History Month.

The play “The Slave from the Grave,” written and directed by Henry Garden, will be performed from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday.

Actors in the play will be Brian West, who also will host the event, Kyra McKinney, Dwayne Berger and India McDowell.

The event also will feature a “visual journey” based on Garden’s book, “The Slave Ship Atlantic.”

Tickets are $5 to reserve (seating is limited) or $7 at the door. All ticket sales and donations go toward artwork and programs aimed at the African-American arts.

Tickets can be purchased at Method 8 Studio today and Thursday from noon to 4 p.m. and Friday from noon to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
