LIBERTY

Police are still searching for a suspect who robbed a grocery store clerk at gunpoint over the weekend.

Officers said a man wearing a hooded coat and with a scarf covering his face walked into Aldi grocery store in the 3000 block of Belmont Avenue shortly after 8 p.m. Friday evening.

According to reports, the suspect brought merchandise to the counter before pulling out a black handgun and forcing the cashier to put an undisclosed amount of cash into a plastic bag. Police said the suspect then forced the cashier to the front door while pointing a gun at the back of her head. The suspect then told her, “Go call 911 and thank me for not killing you tonight. Go tell your family how much you love them.”

Police are reviewing the store’s surveillance video.
