Diesel fuel spill cleaned up in Bazetta Township

BAZETTA — Seventy-five to 100 gallons of diesel fuel leaked from a tank at a farm at the corner of Johnson Plank and Durst Clagg Road Sunday morning, sending personnel from the Bazetta Fire Department, U.S. Air Force Base HazMat team and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency to the scene.

The spill traveled from the tank to roadside ditches and a small stream on the south side of Johnson Plank Road, but there was no danger to any of the residents there, the Bazetta Township Fire Department said.

The spill, which was reported at about 8:15 a.m., was mostly cleaned up by early afternoon, fire officials said.
