Canfield swimmers split against Boardman
The Canfield boys and girls swim teams competed against Boardman on Jan. 31 at Youngstown State University.
The girls team lost 108-75 to Boardman. During the individual races, Mallory Allen took first place in the 100-yard fly and second place in the 500-yard free. Maggie Beistel took second place in the 100-yard backstroke and Olivia Williamson placed second in the 200-yard individual medley. Theresa Mikolay placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke. Briana O’Malley took second for the 200-yard free.
Ally Chiu placed first in the diving portion of the competition.
During the relays, Beistel, Theresa Mikolay, Allen and Williamson took second place for the 200-yard medley relay. Mikolay Jamie Wellham, Leslie Davis and O’Malley took second for the 200-yard free relays and Beistel, O’Malley, Williamson and Allen took second for the 400-yard freestyle relay.
The Canfield boys team defeated Boardman 120-50. Daniel Bogen led the Cardinals with a first-place finish in the 100-yard free and the 200-yard free. Mike Cardone took first in the 50-yard free and Michael DiDomenico finished first in the 500-yard free. Connor Brady placed first in the 200-yard individual medley.
Alec Gaetano took first in the 100-yard backstroke.
During the relay portion of the competition, Jared Rothbauer, Michael Dohar, David Dalvin and Gaetano took first in the 200-yard medley relay.
The relay team consisting of Brady, Cardone, Nicky Montalto and Bogen placed first in the 200-yard free relay and the 400-yard free relay.
