Cardinals host softball clinic

The Canfield Lady Cardinals softball team will host a skills and drills tune-up softball clinic March 16 in the Canfield High School gymnasium. Morning sessions for players ages 7-10 will be from 10 a.m. to noon, and afternoon sessions for players 11-14 will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Clinic check-in time will take place 30 minutes prior to the start of the session.

The cost is $20 per player. Make checks payable to Canfield Softball Boosters. Deadline to register is March 8. Registration forms and required medical release forms can be found at www.leaguelineup.com/canfieldsoftballboosters.

Players should bring helmets, gloves, bats and tennis shoes. No spikes allowed. If catchers have their own equipment they are encouraged to bring it.

Skills and Drills Tune up Softball Clinic will provide each player with the tools necessary to take her game to the next level in a challenging and fun-filled atmosphere. Each player will have the opportunity to increase her knowledge of the game and develop proper fundamentals on the offensive and defensive side of the ball, while working with the Lady Cardinals players and coaches.

For more information, contact Matt and Andrea Keller at 330-286-5030.

Neighbors wants winter sports news

It’s getting cold outside and the snow will be flying before you know it. That’s the bad news. But here’s the good news: It’s winter sports season.

Your young athletes have already started practicing and games will be starting before the end of this month. It promises to be a great season filled with game-winning shots, wrestling tournaments, strikes and spares, balance beam routines and swim meets.

Neighbors wants to be there every step of the way. If you’re a winter sports coach or the parent of an athlete, we need you help. In order to get teams and players the recognition they deserve, we want to showcase them in our pages. We can only do that if you commit to sending us game reports and photos each week. If you send it, it will get in.
