Canfield orators advance to state tournament

The Canfield Speech and Debate team competed at the Youngstown OHSSL District Tournament last weekend in Howland and advanced 33 competitors to the state tournament on March 1-2.

In the regular season, the team won eight tournaments and placed in the top three in 12 of 14 events. Canfield’s worst finish was sixth out of 37 teams at an event in Wooster.

Canfield will next compete at the national qualifying tournament Feb. 15-16 at Boardman.
