Man, 5-year-old child pulled from icy Ohio pond

COLUMBUS (AP) — Rescuers in Columbus have pulled a 5-year-old child and a man who tried to rescue the child from an icy apartment complex pond.

Multiple media outlets report the two victims were in the water for several minutes before being rescued early tonight. Two medical helicopters arrived at the scene to transport the victims, whose conditions weren’t immediately known.

The pond was at an apartment complex on the city’s southeast side. Temperatures in Columbus rose to the mid-40s today after several days with overnight temperatures well below freezing.
