Hudson to sing with school chorus
NEW ORLEANS
Jennifer Hudson will join the chorus from Sandy Hook Elementary School to sing “America the Beautiful” before Sunday’s Super Bowl game.
NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy said Thursday that the Grammy and Oscar-winning singer would join the Sandy Hook chorus. It features 26 children from the school in Newtown, Conn., where 20 first-graders and six adults were killed in a Dec. 14 shooting rampage.
The performance will be part of CBS’ pre-game show before the game between the San Francisco 49ers and the Baltimore Ravens and will be broadcast live. Alicia Keys will sing the national anthem.
Children who survived the shooting rampage also recorded a version of “Over the Rainbow” to raise money for charity. Proceeds benefit the United Way of Western Connecticut and the Newtown Youth Academy.
Lohan seeks $1M in fashion-line suit
LOS ANGELES
Lindsay Lohan sued her former collaborators on a clothing line Thursday, seeking more than $1.1 million and renewed control of the brand’s trademarks.
The lawsuit claims a clothing manufacturer who previously worked with Lohan continues to sell items under the actress’s 6126 Collection, which started out as a legging brand and had ambitions to expand into other clothing items.
The breach of contract, fraud and trademark infringement lawsuit filed in a Los Angeles federal court seeks royalties and other payments from D.N.A.M. Apparel Industries LLC.
The suit claims D.N.A.M. has failed to pay Lohan more than $1 million in royalties and has not abided by an agreement to seek the “Liz & Dick” star’s input on merchandise. D.N.A.M. also agreed to promote and expand the 6126 label into swimwear, cosmetics and other apparel and open a showroom in New York, according to the lawsuit.
The case asks a judge to order the company to stop using the 6126 name and trademarks.
