Wine and beer tasting in Boardman

Team Schein is hosting a wine and beer tasting at Vintage Estates Wine and Beer in Boardman Feb. 24 from 3-5 p.m.

The cost is $20 per person and includes eight tastings. Choose from six wine selections or 12 beers on tap from the Diamond bar, hors d’oeuvres and musical entertainment by Ryan Ross. You must be 21 years of age to purchase a ticket and attend the event.

AWBA meeting set for Feb. 12

Leah Brooks, executive director of the YWCA in Youngstown, will be a guest speaker for the meeting of the Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association (ABWA) Feb. 12.

Members will gather at A La Cart in Canfield at 6:30 p.m. for a buffet of lemon chicken, stuffed shells, baked whitefish, sandtrap potatoes, peas and carrots, chef salad, rolls and butter, beverages and desserts for $18.50.

Fibromyalgia support group meeting

On Feb. 20, the Mahoning Valley Fibromyalgia Support Group will meet at Bethel Lutheran Church, located at 425 Crestview Drive in Boardman.

This meeting will be from 7-8:30 p.m. and members are urged to bring a friend who is interested in an evening of learning, sharing and fun.

Stories and Kinect play gaming system fun for children ages 2-3 will happen on Feb. 20 at 10 a.m. at the Boardman library. All children must be accompanied by an adult to this 30-minute story time.

Dance with the Kinect Play Gaming System at the Boardman library Feb. 18 at 2 p.m. The program will last one hour and school-age children are invited to come dance, laugh and party at the library.

Blood drive

The Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross is proudly serving the needs of St. Elizabeth Hospital by taking blood donations to help the community Feb. 25 from 1:30-6:30 p.m. at the Boardman library.

Blood pressure screening

There will be a blood pressure screening by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross at the Boardman library from 12:30-3 p.m. Feb. 4.

Friends of the Library meeting

There will be a Boardman Friends of the Library meeting and presentation on the “High Speed Rails” with Dr. Tom Marafa of the Department of Geography at YSU at 10 a.m. Feb. 11.

Jigsaw puzzle swap

If you are done with your jigsaw puzzle and want to try another, join other jigsaw enthusiasts and swap puzzles at the Boardman library Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Friends of PLYMC.

Rotary trip raises funds for Relay for Life

The Boardman Rotary Relay for Life team is sponsoring a bus trip to Rivers Casino Feb. 16. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. The cost of the trip is $30 and each person receives $20 in free play, plus a $5 food voucher. The bus will leave from behind St. Nicholas Hall in Struthers at 11 a.m. and return at 7 p.m.

Making Kids Count benefit dinner

On March 15, Making Kids Count will host its first benefit dinner at Avion on the Water in Canfield. Proceeds from the event will go to the various programs Making Kids Count sponsors. This event will include dinner, dessert, a cash bar, chance auction and entertainment. Invitations will be mailed in February. Father-daughter princess dance at Boardman Park

Boardman Park will host its 10th annual Father-Daughter princess dance at the Lariccia Family Community Center. The dance will be on three nights this year: Feb. 15 and 16 from 6-9 p.m., and Feb. 17 from 5-8 p.m. This semi-formal dance will include dinner, dancing to DJ music and more. A professional photo for a keepsake of this event will also be included. Tickets are now on sale. They can be purchased at the park office, Monday-Friday, from 8 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. No tickets will be sold at the door.
