A man who was shot at a 736 Fairmont Ave. home on the North Side about 9:35 p.m. Sunday was identified Monday as Aldric Jones, 23, of Youngstown. He died Monday at St. Elizabeth Health Center, according to Vindicator news partner 21 WFMJ-TV. His is the 19th homicide in the city this year.

Chief of Detectives Brad Blackburn said investigators are still looking into the shooting and have made no arrests.

Police offered few new details Monday, saying they were still investigating.

Checks forged

BOARDMAN

A relative of a 91-year-old township man reported to police on Sunday that the elderly man had at least 19 checks stolen and forged for $5,850.

The man reported to police that the checks went back to Sept. 12. No arrests have been made in the case.

Cat shot with arrow

AUSTINTOWN

A township resident reported to police his cat was shot with an arrow Saturday after it went outside for four hours.

The Kirk Road resident said the cat got out about 11:30 a.m. and was found at 3:30 p.m. on the back porch with an arrow in its leg. The owners took the cat to the vet, and the pet was reported to be OK.
