FrackFree Mahoning Valley remembers 2011 earthquake today

YOUNGSTOWN — Today marks the second anniversary of the 4.0 magnitude earthquake that was linked to a fracking waste injection well in Youngstown.

Niles and Youngstown Community Bill of Rights Charter Amendment supporters and members of FrackFree Mahoning Valley will gather at two separate, simultaneous commemorative events in Niles and Youngstown to mark the anniversary.

The Niles gathering will take place across the street from the new injection well that is being built at 2:45 p.m. at 1749 N. Main St.

The Youngstown gathering will take place in downtown Youngstown at the intersection of Market and West Federal streets also beginning at 2:45 PM.

The groups have timed their gatherings to call attention to the actual time of the earthquake two years ago, which was about 3:05 PM.

Group members will read brief statements about the earthquake and the current Community Bill of Rights efforts in Niles and throughout Ohio.
