Youngstown woman charged with theft from Boardman supermarket

BOARDMAN — A 37-year-old Youngstown woman faces theft charges after representatives of Modarelli’s Sparkle Market on South Avenue accused her of theft on Sunday.

Judith Douglas of Oakwood Avenue was charged with a misdemeanor theft offense and was transported to Trumbull County for a theft charge she had pending there.

Police were called to the supermarket just after 3 p.m. on the report of a shoplifter.

Store employees told police they found two packages of spare ribs in the woman’s bag. The woman could not show them a receipt that she paid for the meat. One package was valued at $25.15 and the other at $24.

Douglas will arraigned at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 2 in Mahoning County Area Court here.
