Cleveland’s University Hospitals is set to take over two suburban medical centers.

University Hospitals received final approval from government regulators this past week to complete the deal.

It will take control of Parma Community General Hospital and EMH Healthcare in Elyria beginning Wednesday.

The hospital in Parma will be renamed University Hospitals Parma Medical Center. The Elyria site will become University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center.

University Hospitals has 18,000 employees at 10 hospitals and 20 outpatient health centers in the Cleveland area.

The hospital says it has no plans to expand or reduce its workforce because of the deal.

Police charged 34-year-old David Kapellusch of Titusville with offenses including theft by deception and forgery.

He is in the Venango County Prison, unable to post bail since his Dec. 20 arraignment. No lawyer was listed for him in court records.

No phone number could be found for Marchand.

Militia threatens to cut gas deliveries

tRIPOLI, LIBYA

A spokesman for a Libyan militia that shut down most of the country’s oil terminals for months has threatened to close off natural-gas deliveries to the capital in a serious escalation in its standoff with the central government.

The spokesman, who did not identify himself, said in a statement aired Sunday on television stations that the government has 48 hours to resume paying salaries to the group, which was originally in charge of securing oil and gas facilities in the country’s east.

The natural gas is essential for power plants in Tripoli and in the rest of the country.

Since this summer, the group has shut down the oil terminals, demanded greater autonomy and a larger share of oil revenues for the region.

The government had since stopped paying the militia’s salaries and threatened to use force to restore the flow of oil exports, seriously cutting into government revenues.
