Polar Plunge at Mosquito Lake is Jan. 18

Registrations are being accepted for the Mosquito Lake Polar Plunge on Jan. 18 to benefit Special Olympics of Ohio.

A preregistration event with entertainment is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 17 at the Cortland Moose Family Center, 6400 state Route 46.

Day-of-event registration and check-in is from 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. A costume contest is at 1 p.m. and a post-plunge party is from 2 to 4 p.m., both at the family center.

As part of the Polar Plunge experience, participants obtain a minimum $75 in monetary pledges, $50 for students, and then agree to jump into Mosquito Lake to earn their pledges.

For those who may not feel as courageous, there is an opportunity to participate in the plunge by registering for “Too Chicken to Plunge.”
