Cab driver shot in Youngstown

YOUNGSTOWN

A cab driver with Independent Radio Taxi Inc. in Youngstown was shot in the leg inside the cab he was driving at about 9 p.m. Saturday at Philadelphia Avenue and Homestead Street on the city’s South Side.

He was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.

A taxi dispatcher in the company’s downtown office said the motive was robbery, but declined to give the driver’s name, and said she was still awaiting word concerning his condition.

Saying the shooting was still being actively investigated, police declined to provide further details Saturday evening.
