POLICE CALLS

A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman:

POLAND

Dec. 17

Theft: A Clingan Road man discovered a stolen check had been written for $2,388.

Dec. 18

Harassment: A Poland Village Boulevard woman said someone had been harassing her.

Dec. 20

Recovered property: A $199 computer tablet was recovered after an employee with a Center Road fast-food restaurant had reported the device stolen while at work.

Theft: A woman reported the theft of an undergarment and a sweatshirt from her home in the 8100 block of Via Bellagio Drive.

Drug paraphernalia: Danielle R. Gonzalez, 20, was issued a minor-misdemeanor citation during a traffic stop near Clingan Road after police said Gonzalez, of 12th Street, Campbell, had a glass pipe with suspected marijuana residue.

Dec. 23

Identity theft: A Clovermeade Drive woman discovered $175 worth of fraudulent activity with her debit card.

BOARDMAN

Dec. 19

Theft: Michael J. Cole, 18, of Glenwood Avenue, Youngstown, was booked via phone after being accused of committing a theft at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Dec. 20

Menacing: A worker for a Southern Boulevard home-improvement store reported a customer took photographs of her with his cellphone and has given her unwanted attention.

Theft: A man in a white shirt, black jeans and a red stocking cap stole $1,473 worth of merchandise, including a computer and toys, from Walmart.

Burglary: To a residence in the 1300 block of St. Albans Drive through a rear door. A 60-inch flat-screen TV was taken.

Theft: A stove, a refrigerator and a tractor were stolen from a home in the 400 block of Gardenwood Drive. The loss was estimated at $925.

Harassment: A customer made roughly 150 obscene and threatening calls to a Southern Park Mall store after complaining about a repair the business had made to a piece of jewelry.

Attempted burglary: Someone tried to pry open the front door to an apartment in the 5700 block of Sheridan Road.

Theft: A Youngstown woman noticed her wallet missing while at a Doral Drive business.

Theft: Two women and a man reportedly stole more than $1,000 worth of merchandise, including clothing, from Walmart.

Dec. 21

Theft: A 17-year-old Struthers boy was charged in the theft of two thermal shirts from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Stolen property: Police at the Mahoning County jail booked 25-year-old Karell T. McDaniel Jr. of Applecrest Court, Boardman, on a felony receiving-stolen-property charge after a $1,300 flute and its case were stolen in September from an apartment in the 7000 block of West Boulevard.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone broke a car window at a restaurant in the 800 block of Boardman-Poland Road and removed a purse. Police received a similar complaint at an eatery in the 1400 block.

Theft/counterfeit: A woman reportedly used 19 phony $50 bills to pay for merchandise at The Coach Store and Cache, both Southern Park Mall clothing businesses.

Burglary: Took place in the 100 block of Beechwood Drive through a rear window before the homeowners returned to discover the front and rear doors open. Stolen was a $450 flat-screen TV.

Theft: Leanna K. Razo, 33, of Fremont Avenue, Youngstown, faced misdemeanor charges of theft, receiving stolen property and possession of criminal tools after a T-shirt and eight other items were stolen from Victoria’s Secret’s Pink store in Southern Park Mall. Razo also had a bag containing stolen merchandise from other mall stores, as well as a pry bar to remove security devices from some of the items, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle in the 100 block of Roche Way was found with punctured rear tires and paint damage on the rear bumper.

Theft: Lisa M. Satterfield-Burnett, 44, of Sixth Street, Campbell, was charged with stealing a computer router, a toy gun and other property from Walmart. The theft came to about $247.

Attempted burglary/theft: Someone in the 800 block of Moyer Avenue tampered with an apartment’s deadbolt lock in an apparent effort to enter, and stole about $1,200 worth of property from a storage shed.

Theft: A Columbiana woman reported her wallet stolen at a restaurant in the 300 block of Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A man in his mid- to late 30s took a $100 Bluetooth headset from AT&T, 650 Boardman-Canfield Road.

Counterfeit: A woman in her 30s used seven fake $50 bills to pay for merchandise at Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

Robbery: A Girard woman told authorities that while at a Youngstown gas station, a man around age 20 in a green hooded sweatshirt and gray sweatpants asked her to help him jumpstart his car at a Hillman Way residence. After giving the man a ride there, he took her $600 cellphone, though he never threatened to harm the accuser, she reported.

Theft/criminal damaging: Someone removed a 3-foot Santa Claus doll from a rear yard on Garden Valley Drive and damaged a vehicle’s passenger-side tire.

Theft: A 15-year-old boy reportedly took a pair of socks from Macy’s.

Theft: David M. Leach, 43, was charged after police alleged Leach, of Montrose Street, Liberty Township, had taken a Pittsburgh Steelers hooded sweatshirt and two other items from Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive.

Dec. 22

Arrest: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 224 led to the arrest of 21-year-old Pierce J. Aron of Medford Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Criminal damaging: Someone intentionally cut an extension cord to a Christmas lawn decoration in the 1400 block of Fredericksburg Drive.

Theft: A Warren woman reported her wallet stolen while at a Boardman-Poland Road buffet restaurant.

Theft/criminal mischief: A reindeer decoration was knocked over in a front yard in the 200 block of Shields Road. Also, part of a Christmas tree was stolen.

Aggravated menacing: A Youngstown woman alleged her fiance threatened to kill her during an argument in their vehicle at Southern Park Mall.

Damage: Someone in Mill Creek Park apparently using a cross bow to kill a deer missed and instead struck and left a 1-inch hole in a fence at a home in the 700 block of Truesdale Road.

Arrest: Police investigated a car accident in the 500 block of Oak Avenue, where they charged Ryan J. Walsh, 31, of Cuyahoga Falls with operating a vehicle impaired and without reasonable control.

Theft: Two women stole miscellaneous feminine hygiene products and a toy from Family Dollar, 4028 Market St.

Dec. 23

Theft: A worker for a South Avenue long-term care facility discovered prescription medications missing from her office.

Attempted theft: A man tried to steal a 40-inch flat-screen TV valued at $498 from Sam’s Club, 6361 South Ave.

Assault: A Columbiana woman in an argument with another driver at Southern Park Mall told police the motorist threw the accuser to the ground. She complained of stomach pain.

Identity fraud: A Hopkins Road man learned someone in Catania, Italy, tried to make a $328 transaction with his bank-account information.

Theft: Authorities took custody of Donna M. Dibo of Fifth Street, Campbell, who was wanted on two theft warrants. The 32-year-old Dibo was accused of stealing last month baby formula from Babies “R” Us, The Baby Super Store, 1240 Doral Drive, as well as about $500 worth of perfume from Sears in Southern Park Mall.

Citation: While dealing with a disturbance at Southern Park Mall, officers cited a 16-year-old Struthers boy on a charge of underage possession of tobacco.

Identity fraud: A Green Garden Drive woman noticed three unauthorized charges to her account totaling $413.

Theft: A woman at a Marwood Circle business reported the theft of her purse and a portable compact-disc player.

Drugs: Andrew C. Miller, 23, of Newton Avenue, Boardman, was booked on a felony charge of drug possession and a misdemeanor count of possession of drug paraphernalia. He also was cited on a marijuana-possession charge.

Vandalism: Someone in a Jeep caused extensive damage to a field Ohio Edison Co. owns off Lockwood Boulevard.

Domestic violence: Police charged 42-year-old Brian K. Taylor of Boardman Boulevard, Boardman, with one felony count each of domestic violence and abduction after a neighbor had reported a disturbance. Taylor’s girlfriend alleged he threw her onto a bed during an argument, placed her in a chokehold, causing her to pass out, and refused to allow the accuser to leave the apartment.

Theft: A man stole $165 worth of merchandise from Walmart.

Employee theft: Layshawna N. Garner, 22, of Alburn Drive, Boardman, was charged with placing a $14 bow-hair accessory in her hair while working at Dillard’s in Southern Park Mall, then leaving without paying for the item.
