YOUNGSTOWN

The Men’s Garden Club of Youngstown recently met for its annual Christmas awards dinner.

Those receiving awards follow:

Dennis M. Zap received a certificate of appreciation. He is president of the club and provided refreshments for activities for the year.

Arthur A. Roden received a certificate of honor. He is chairman of the Nominating committee and member of the civic committee. He participates at the greenhouse, has assisted at Javit Court and shared his gardens for the 2013 Garden Tour.

Bruce Bergman received the award for outstanding new member and is a participant in the greenhouse.

Dan Miller received the communications award. He keeps the club informed on the computer, operates special equipment and more.

Terry W. Voland received the horticulture award and assists with the youth gardening program, participates in the greenhouse and has been an outstanding exhibitor in the horticultural show for several years.

Lynn Hoffmann received the award for master gardener, excels on the elm tree committee and plans for the winter conference.

Robert J. McGowan received the heritage award, has been treasurer for several years and has been instrumental in acquiring grants for the club. He also is a member of several committees and is one of the chefs for the club breakfasts, steak fries and more.

David E. Causer received the Bill Carney Bronze Award and is youth garden and activities adviser, greenhouse assistant and vice president of the club.
