Man arraigned on pandering counts

CORTLAND

Ian T. Weddell, 32, of Tami Court, was arraigned Monday in Central District Court on five counts of pandering obscenity involving a minor.

Judge Thomas Campbell entered a not-guilty plea for Weddell and set bond at $100,000.

The charges resulted from an investigation of computer use to access pornographic images initiated by the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Trumbull County Crimes Against Children Task Force.

The agencies asked for assistance from the Cort-land Police Department, which filed the charges against Weddell, said Detective David Morris of the Cort-land police.

If convicted, Weddell could get 40 years in prison.

Swearing-in ceremony planned

The swearing-in ceremony for members of Warren City Council will take place at 5 p.m. Monday in council chambers, 141 South St. SE.

Taking the oath for the first time will be Larry Larson, new 1st Ward councilman, and Jim Graham, new president of council.

Returning council members to take the oath of office are Al Novak, John Brown Jr., Greg Bartholomew, Vincent Flask, Cheryl Saffold, Eddie Colbert, Helen Rucker, Daniel Sferra and James Valesky.

Warren Rotary Club donates coats, gloves

The Warren Rotary Club donated 200 coats and hats, 600 pairs of gloves to three area organizations on Monday.

Rob Berk, club vice president, presented items to Jill Merolla, supervisor of Community Outreach and Grant Development for Warren City Schools, Warren Family Mission and the Salvation Army.

The Warren Rotary Club meets at noon every Wednesday at Enzo’s Restaurant on Elm Road.

People interested in joining the Rotary can attend the weekly lunch and check out the club’s website, www.warrenrotary.org.

Hubbard group seeks children’s books

Hubbard Friends of the Library, 436 W. Liberty St., is in need of children’s books.

When you are putting your child’s or grandchild’s new books on the shelf, sort out some outgrown books to donate, the group suggests.

Bring them to the circulation desk during regular library hours.

The group also accepts puzzles, games, CDs, DVDs and videos.

All funds generated by Friends benefits Hubbard Public Library and its programs.

Light Up the Night lists top-3 winners

Three homeowners on the city’s North Side took top honors for their outdoor Christmas light decorations at the fifth-annual Light Up the Night festivities that took place earlier this month.

The winners were Delores Hall, 44 Saranac Ave., first place; Birdie Higgs, 145 Illinois Ave., second place; and John and Barbara Marinelli, 41 Saranac, third place.
