Campbell police investigating burglaries

CAMPBELL

City police are investigating two robberies within just a few hours Monday.

A 36-year-old Columbus Avenue resident told police that someone had entered his home while he was at work — or sometime between 6 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. — and took several items: a 32-inch TV, a PlayStation 3, a laptop computer and about 17 video games.

Police didn’t notice any signs of forced entry, but did see that the basement door was slightly open.

In addition, during the investigation, police found that the homeowner — identified as Marty Schrader — had an active warrant out of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, and was taken into custody.

A 29-year-old Jean Street resident also reported that his home had been broken into.

Shortly after 7 p.m. Monday, the homeowner told police that his home was secure when he left it earlier in the day, but that when he returned, he noticed that an upstairs window had been forced open.

He said his 55-inch rented TV had been stolen, along with all of the gifts under his Christmas tree.

Police told the homeowner to compile a list of the stolen Christmas presents.
