Salem Community Hospital changing its name

Staff report

SALEM

Salem Community Hospital is changing its name to Salem Regional Medical Center, effective Jan. 1.

The new name reflects the hospital’s strong tradition of significant growth and expanded services and its continued commitment to providing medical services to the region as an independent, not-for-profit medical center, said Derek Hiscox, chairman of the SCH board of directors.

“After thoughtful and careful consideration, our board determined that a name change was the best way to communicate our organization’s continued forward progress as a strong and independent regional hospital,” Hiscox said.

He noted that only the hospital’s name has changed. There has been no change in ownership, no change in staff, no change in location, and no change in the mission: “To Serve. To Care. To Heal.”

A new logo is also being unveiled. It can be seen on Salem Regional Medical Center’s website at www.salemhosp.com.
