2 Youngstown firefighters get promotions

YOUNGSTOWN — Two city firefighters were promoted today at a ceremony at the main fire station in downtown Youngstown.

Carl Farina, an 11-year veteran, was promoted from firefighter to lieutenant, and Charles Smith, who has served for 12 years, made the rank of captain from his previous post as lieutenant.

Both men replaced retired personnel, said fire Chief John O’Neill.
