SALEM

Police found a man dead Saturday morning inside a Walnut Street residence and said he had been shot several times by his brother.

At 4:09 a.m., dispatchers received a 911 call about shots fired in the 500 block of Walnut, possibly at 530 Walnut St. Officers located a male at the rear of that residence and detained him until it was determined whether he had any connection to the report.

They found that a man was deceased inside. Officers found Marion F. Lewis, 40, of Columbus, face down on the kitchen floor and determined that he had been shot numerous times.

A news release from the police department states that a firearm was recovered, and the male outside was determined to be the suspect and was taken into custody.

Quinton E. Lewis, 34, of 530 Walnut is charged with homicide and is in the Columbiana County jail. The victim and the suspect are brothers.

Agencies assisting in the investigation were the Ohio Bureau of Investigation, Columbiana County Homicide Task Force, Columbiana County coroner, Ohio State Highway Patrol and Perry Township police.
