YOUNGSTOWN

Carol Rimedio-Righetti filed her petitions for the May 6 Democratic primary, in which she will seek the Democratic nomination for re-election as a Mahoning County commissioner.

Righetti, who is seeking a second-consecutive four-year term in that office, filed her petitions Friday with the county board of elections. Her filing occurred more than a month before the Feb. 5 deadline. Righetti said she submitted 150 signatures on her petitions, which is three times the number of valid signatures required. No candidates thus far have filed petitions to run against her in the Democratic primary.

Meeting canceled

YOUNGSTOWN

Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission, located at Oak Hill Renaissance Center, 345 Oak Hill Ave., Suite 100, has canceled its board meeting for Wednesday. The commission office will be closed Tuesday and Wednesday, but will reopen at 8 a.m. Thursday.

Support meeting

YOUNGSTOWN

A self-help group for men and women who were abused by clergy will have a confidential support meeting next week in Youngstown.

Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, SNAP, will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. next Saturday.

Artwork online

Youngstown

Sean Butler, Cardinal Mooney High School art teacher, reported that students have teamed up with Artsonia, an online kid’s art museum, to display the students’ artwork.

To view the school gallery online, visit www.artsonia.com/schools/Cardinal15.

Visitors can browse the artwork in the school gallery by grade level, or by specific exhibits.

Mooney students join thousands of students from more than 130 countries whose artwork is showcased on Artsonia. All of Artsonia’s artwork, 20 million, are viewable online, and any teacher or parent can create an online art gallery for their child or school.

Graduation brunch

YOUNGSTOWN

Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University recently presented the “Outstanding Senior Leadership” awards at a graduation brunch.

The awards recognized students in each major for outstanding academic performance, leadership contributions and commitment to professional development.

Award recipients were Dominic Rich of Canfield, the WCBA Leadership Award in marketing; Elizabeth Baytos of North Lima and Nicholas Jeswald of Canfield, Senior Leadership Awards from the YSU Department of Management; and Diane Doddato of Sharpsville, Pa., and Dominic Jackett of Boardman, Senior Leadership Awards in accounting.
