A checklist of local, state and federal institutions and local businesses closed various days for Christmas. Residents of communities not listed should check their governmental office schedules.

City offices: Youngstown, Niles, Salem, closed Wednesday; New Castle, Sharon, closed noon Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Warren, closed 1 p.m. Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Newton Falls Municipal Court, closed noon Tuesday through Thursday.

County offices: Mahoning, Columbiana, closed Wednesday; Mercer, closing noon Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Trumbull, closed Tuesday and Wednesday; Lawrence, closed Tuesday through Thursday.

All State offices: closed Wednesday.

Federal offices: closed Wednesday.

Schools: Warren, closed 3 p.m. Monday through Wednesday; Youngstown, closed Tuesday and Wednesday; Niles, Salem, closed Tuesday through Thursday; New Castle, closed Monday through Jan. 1; Sharon, closed Monday through Jan. 3.

Universities: Youngstown State, closed Wednesday through Friday; Kent State Trumbull Campus, closed 5 p.m. Monday through Jan. 2.

Western Reserve Transit Authority (WRTA): No night service Tuesday and closed Wednesday.

Public libraries: Youngstown-Mahoning County, Warren-Trumbull, Newton Falls Public Library, Hubbard Public Library, Bristol Public Library- Bristolville, McKinley Memorial Library- Niles, closed Tuesday and Wednesday; Kinsman Free Public Library, Girard Free Library, closed Tuesday through Thursday.

Stock market: Markets close 1 p.m. Tuesday and closed Wednesday.

Banks: First National Bank, closed noon Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Cortland Banks, Home Federal Savings & Loan- Niles, Home Savings & Loan, Farmers National Bank, First Place Bank- Warren, closed 1 p.m. Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Charter One, Huntington Bank- Austintown, Key Bank, PNC Ohio, PNC Pennsylvania, closed 2 p.m. Tuesday and closed Wednesday; Chase Bank, closed 3 p.m. Tuesday and closed Wednesday.

Trash collection: Allison Brothers Inc., Allied Waste/ Republic Services, Waste Management, Ohio Valley Waste, Warren City Environmental Services, Waste-Tech Services, all closed Wednesday, service delayed by one day.
