A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

Dec. 8

Drugs: A boy, 15, and a girl, 16, both of Poland, were charged after police said they seized from Poland Township Park off Moore Road a suspected marijuana pipe, papers commonly used to roll marijuana, two suspected marijuana cigarettes and 0.5 grams of suspected marijuana.

Dec. 10

Harassment: A Poland Village Boulevard woman said an acquaintance has been harassing her.

Dec. 11

Theft: A Jennifer Drive woman reported $147 and two pieces of jewelry stolen, for a $1,447 loss.

Dec. 12

Theft: A .40-caliber semiautomatic handgun and a holster were taken from a Lowellville Road residence.

Dec. 13

Harassment: A Hamilton Avenue woman told officers a man has been harassing her.

BOARDMAN

Dec. 13

Theft: A 17-year-old Youngstown boy was charged with stealing four pieces of jewelry valued at $149 from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall.

Harassment: A Maple Drive woman said her former boyfriend has made and sent unwanted and derogatory calls and text messages.

Theft: A man stole four $20 video games from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Domestic violence: Seth S. Robinson, 28, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, faced a felony domestic-violence charge after his wife, who was three months pregnant, alleged Robinson had pushed her off a bed during an argument and punched her arm.

Theft: Three women fled in a vehicle after reportedly taking air-freshener refills, a pouch and other merchandise from Family Dollar, 4030 South Ave.

Criminal damaging: A car in the 2000 block of Wolosyn Circle was found with all of its tires slashed. Damage was estimated at $600.

Theft: A woman stole six athletic hooded sweat shirts from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road. The theft came to $322.

Dec. 14

Arrest: A traffic stop on Market Street resulted in the arrest of 30-year-old Anthony J. Gidaro of Kathleen Drive, New Castle, Pa., on a charge of operating a vehicle impaired.

Theft: A South Cadillac Drive man accused employees with a home-improvement company of stealing five interior lights and $30 worth of laundry chemicals.

Theft: Two women in their 20s took 15 pairs of pants, seven hooded sweat shirts and a gift set from Pink by Victoria’s Secret in Southern Park Mall.

Burglary/criminal damaging: Someone in the 7300 block of Oregon Trail forced open a garage door, damaged a vehicle inside and removed two tail lights.

Criminal damaging: A motorist drove through and damaged part of a lawn in the 6600 block of Mill Creek Boulevard.

Theft: Six Sony PlayStation controllers valued at $356 were stolen from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A Clifton Drive woman realized $200 had been removed from her account while she was at a Market Street convenience store.

Aggravated menacing: A Lockwood Boulevard woman alleged her boyfriend’s father called and threatened to burn down her home.

Theft: A $429 mini iPad device was stolen from AT&T in Southern Park Mall.

Arrest: Todd J. Moffie, 37, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Mathews Road. Moffie, of Mathews Road, Boardman, was charged with operating a vehicle impaired and received minor-misdemeanor citations charging drug abuse and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft/forgery: A woman discovered two personal checks stolen from her Garden Valley Court residence also had been forged at Walmart.

Theft: A Youngstown woman reported her wallet stolen while at a Doral Drive store.

Dec. 15

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 4200 block of Chester Drive broke several eggs on several of a vehicle’s windows.

Burglary/drugs: Authorities responding to a break-in at a home in the 30 block of Newton Avenue arrested Gregory J. Urbanek Jr., 22, of Wychwood Lane, Youngstown, on charges of aggravated burglary and trafficking in drugs, along with 19-year-old Steven J. Direnzo Jr. of Falls Avenue, Youngstown, who faced an aggravated-burglary charge. Urbanek and Direnzo were picked up at a Market Street motel after the homeowner alleged that while opening her door, two men forced their way in, demanded money and stole a laptop computer, a digital camera and another item before fleeing.

Vandalism: Someone did $1,000 in damage to a front window at a residence in the 700 block of Ronlee Lane.

Theft: A Colwyn Court man noticed his wallet missing, possibly after he had dropped it in a nearby parking lot.

Misuse of a credit card: A worker for a Southern Park Mall jewelry store found out someone had used her stolen card to make a fraudulent purchase at an Austintown gas station.

Theft: A man stole $165 worth of video-game controllers from Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.

Criminal damaging: Someone drove through two front yards in the 300 block of Griswold Drive, leaving several ruts and tire marks.

Theft: Anthony K. Elgabri, 29, of Innwood Drive, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of two memory cards from Walmart.

Domestic violence: Sharon A. Pavelko, 40, of Cook Avenue, Boardman, was charged with the crime after her fiance alleged Pavelko had pushed him to the ground during an argument pertaining to their rent, then repeatedly punched his back and face, causing bruising.

Theft: A man in his mid- to late 20s stole a stereo and other electronics items from Walmart.

Criminal damaging: A home in the 4000 block of Hudson Drive had a broken rear window.

Burglary: To an apartment in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue via a rear door. Two flat-screen TVs were removed.

Arrest: Police on South Avenue pulled over 35-year-old Chris M. Gerda of Forestview Drive, Youngstown, who was wanted on a Hubbard Township warrant charging falsification. Also, Devaughn M. Hardin, 21, of Presidential Court, Boardman, was cited on a marijuana-possession charge.

Theft: Jonathan G. Dill of Poland Avenue, Struthers, was charged. The 19-year-old Dill was accused of taking two pairs of blue jeans from the J.C. Penney store.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: Michael Lemon, 60, was picked up in Deerfield, Portage County, on a warrant charging unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, a first-degree misdemeanor. The Massillon man was accused of borrowing a Claybourne Avenue woman’s Buick Century to drive to Cleveland but failing to return the car.

Dec. 16

Theft/unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Locust Avenue man reported his wallet and prescription medications stolen, and that his 1996 Ford Ranger truck was used without permission.

Burglary: Occurred in the 200 block of Mathews Road through a side door before roughly $2,100 worth of money and jewelry was stolen.

Attempted theft: A man tried to take a $120 children’s electronic tablet from Kmart, 1209 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: A cellphone, an ipod device and $250 were taken from a vehicle in the 5200 block of Market Street.

Theft: A man stole four $40 video-game controllers from Kmart before fleeing in a dark-green Chevrolet Impala vehicle.

Robbery/drugs: Police, along with the U.S. Marshals Task Force serving a warrant at a Newton Avenue residence reported finding contraband that included several suspected marijuana plants under a bathroom sink, a digital scale and a device commonly used to grind marijuana before arresting Grant R. Hayes, 24, of Newton Avenue, Boardman, on charges of robbery, tampering with evidence and possession of drugs and drug parphernalia, as well as Mackenzie R. Rast, 19, of Oak Knoll Drive, Boardman, on a charge of complicity to robbery. Earlier, a Walmart official reported having been struck in the face while trying to apprehend a shoplifter, a report showed.

Criminal damaging: Police responded to a report of a possible stolen car in the 7100 block of Locust Avenue before taking Thomas J. Holler Jr., 18, into custody on a criminal-damaging warrant. Holler, of Locust Avenue, Boardman, was accused of breaking a window to a car in August on Doral Drive.

Theft: Christine M. Hayden, 27, of Champlain Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with stealing 10 articles of clothing worth $367 from Macy’s in Southern Park Mall.

Theft: A man reported his $490 cellphone stolen while making a delivery in the 4100 block of Hillman Way.

Theft: A Warren man noticed a prescription bottle missing while at Southern Park Mall.

Identity fraud: A Bristlewood Drive woman told authorities she discovered $407,186 worth of her husband’s mutual funds had been stolen from three of his accounts.

Theft: A $700 iPhone was removed from a Southern Park Mall kiosk.

Burglary: Officers at a Market Street motel took into custody 26-year-old Joseph E. Grove of West Judson Avenue, Youngstown, who was charged with one count of burglary after someone had broken into an apartment in the 300 block of Mathews Road and taken a 42-inch TV, two laptop computers and other property.

Tampering with records: A Hanoverton woman at a Market Street doctor’s office said she discovered that information regarding her medical records may have been changed without her consent.

Dec. 17

Theft: Michael J. Cole, 18, of Glenwood Avenue, and Jesse L. Shiflett, 19, of East Myrtle Avenue, were charged. The two Youngstown men were accused in the theft of a $398 flat-screen TV from Walmart.
