Ohio school bus driver resigns after arrest

SPRINGBORO, Ohio (AP) — A southwest Ohio school district says a bus driver has resigned after her arrest for driving under the influence while transporting special-needs students.

Police say Sherry Callahan was arrested Wednesday morning after a motorist reported her bus ran him off the road. A Springboro police officer reported that the driver told him that she had only a soda to drink, but that he smelled alcohol on her. The police report states that tests showed she was intoxicated.

Another driver finished transporting the three students aboard.

The 52-year-old driver also faces other counts including child endangering.

The Dayton Daily News reports that Springboro Schools records show no past disciplinary action for Callahan, a 10-year driver for the district.
