It looked a lot like Christmas at Lanterman’s Mill Nov. 30.
Olde Fashioned Christmas at the Mill, a tradition at the mill located in Mill Creek Park, is offered annually the weekend after Thanksgiving.
The mill was decorated in fresh greenery and ribbons. Artisans, such as a potter, tinsmith and woodcarver, demonstrated their crafts.
A string quartet and a bagpipe player also performed at the event.
Crafters offered a variety of items, including magnets, painted stemware and ornaments.
Outside the mill building, chestnuts roasted on an open fire and a tree stood ready to be decorated with hats, scarves and mittens. Many attendees added an item or two to the Giving Tree. They will be given to children in need. Refreshments included hot chocolate, hot spice cider, hot dogs and candy and caramel apples.
Jarret Shurilla and P.J. Kostalas enjoyed a candy apple studded with M & M candies.
The friends have been attending Olde Fashioned Christmas at the Mill since they were in kindergarten, said Jarett’s mother, Debbie Shurilla.
“It’s fun,” she said.
The boys agreed. They look forward to the event every year, and every year they have a candy apple.
“It’s just nice to come down and experience Mill Creek Park in a different setting,” Debbie said. “And especially during the holidays, it’s nice.”
Santa Clause and his wife also made an appearance at the event. In keeping with the old-fashioned theme of the event, Santa carried a staff and was dressed as Father Christmas.
