Hearing mission

BOARDMAN

Fourteen local residents in critical financial need received hearing aids during the Centers for Hearing Care second annual hearing mission.

The free hearing aids were distributed Wednesday at the corporate offices, 126 York Ave. The local hearing mission is focused on changing the lives of those that otherwise could not afford hearing aids.

In addition to being fitted with their own custom-made hearing aids, recipients also received audio testing, a year’s supply of batteries, and instructions on how to care for their new device.

Dr. Sheryl Figliano is doctor of audiology and owner of the Centers for Hearing Care. Information on the centers’ seven locations can be found by visiting www.centersforhearingcare.com or by calling 330-726-3339.

Festival meeting

MINERAL RIDGE

Weathersfield Township trustees this week had an initial meeting with about 15 people who represented local organizations and church groups who are enthusiastic about re-starting a township festival.

Trustee Gil Blair said the group discussed some concepts and past locations.

The annual festival had been sponsored by the firefighters as late as 1984, but was discontinued due to logistical problems of having the event at state Route 46 at the Fire Station No. 21 and at the old middle school, also on Route 46.

The group talked about concepts for a festival after trustees have had a lot of community response in favor of having the festival again, Blair said. Its next meeting will be at 6 p.m. Jan. 21 at the township administration building.
