Rust Belt theater offers ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater’

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN

The Rust Belt Theater Company will present its fourth annual “Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue” at 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Calvin Center, 755 Mahoning Ave.

The quirky, family-friendly musical revue will feature popular and locally written material performed by local entertainers, clad in some of the ugliest Christmas sweaters around. The evening begins with a runway show, and ends with an ugly-sweater pageant.

“We always end our season with the ‘Ugly Christmas Sweater Revue’ because it gives our performers and patrons a chance to get together and celebrate the season, in a low-key, family-friendly environment,” said Robert Dennick Joki, director of Rust Belt Theater. “Unlike a lot of our other productions, it’s a show you can bring the kids to. It also gives several of our young performers who have moved away for college a chance to do a show with us while they are in town for the holidays.”

The cast includes Joki, Grace Offerdahl, Jenn Caventer, Hunter Thomas, Brittiani McNeil, Murphy Lynn Sharp, Geri DeWitt, Starr McClure, Nick Lyras, Jala Beasley-Williams, Daja Beasley-Williams, Nicole Zayas and Monica Beasley Martin.

Tickets are $15 ($10 for students and seniors). For reservations, call 330-507-2358.
