New racino opens in Northeast Ohio


NORTHFIELD, Ohio (AP) - The state's newest attraction offering slots-style video lottery terminals has opened in northeast Ohio.

Hard Rock Rocksino Northfield Park in Northfield provides expanded gambling options beyond traditional betting on horses.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports the racino opened Wednesday to music and appearances by local celebrities, including former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar.

The Miami Valley Gaming racino opened in Lebanon in southwest Ohio last week.

Racinos also are planned in Austintown and the Cincinnati and Dayton areas, all opening next year.

Ohio has voter-approved casinos in Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus and Toledo.
