New business filings decrease in Ohio

COLUMBUS

New business filings in Ohio decreased in November, compared with a year ago, but the state has seen more filings in the state this year than in 2012, Secretary of State John Husted said Tuesday. A total of 6,180 new entities filed to do business in the state last month, down from 6,358 in November of last year.

The secretary of state’s office, however, assisted with 82,974 filings between January and November, an increase from 81,093 during the same period last year.

FNB introduces Popmoney payments

HERMITAGE, PA.

First National Bank announced that its online banking customers with an FNB debit card can now transfer money to other people in real time.

FNB said it is the first bank in Pennsylvania, and one of the first nationally, to introduce the feature, called Popmoney Instant Payments, according to a bank press release.

EV exec: Company expects to drill wells

NEW YORK

EV Energy Partner’s chief executive said last week that the company expects to drill 10 to 15 wells as a part of new joint ventures next year in the Utica Shale.

Some of those would be in the volatile oil window, which holds less mature oil and is west of where much of the drilling has occurred in Carroll, Harrison and Belmont counties, the company’s president and CEO Mark Houser said at the Wells Fargo Energy Symposium last week.

He also said EV Energy Partners is looking to sell some of its Utica holdings.

Wendy’s restaurant features new design

DUBLIN, OHIO

Ohio-based fast food giant Wendy’s is introducing its next generation of restaurant design.

Wendy’s opened the first of the newly designed outlets Tuesday across the street from its headquarters in the Columbus suburb of Dublin.

The Columbus Dispatch reported that the restaurant features a digital menu board, Wi-Fi bar, fireplace and flat-screen TVs. It also looks back at its beginnings with displays and memorabilia, such as signs, tables and chairs.

The patio features a larger-than-life bronze statue of Dave Thomas, who opened the first Wendy’s on East Broad Street in downtown Columbus in 1969.

Courting Airbus

SEATTLE

Even as they try desperately to hang on to Boeing Co., officials in Washington state have been courting the main competitor of the aerospace giant.

During the past several months, state officials have traveled to the U.S. headquarters of Airbus SAS in Virginia, moved to connect Airbus with Washington state suppliers, and signed a five-year confidentiality agreement with the company to allow further exploration of business opportunities, according to records obtained by The Associated Press under public disclosure laws.
