Man charged in Pa. slaying of estranged wife

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (AP) — Authorities have charged a man in the shooting death of his estranged wife that prosecutors say occurred in front of the couple’s three children.

Thirty-seven-year-old Win Min Htut (Toot) is charged in Lehigh County with criminal homicide, burglary and criminal trespass in Tuesday’s shooting death of 37-year-old Thida Nyint.

Police said the couple’s 16-year-old daughter called 911 and told authorities that the couple had argued in the home before going outside, where the woman was shot. District Attorney Jim Martin said the couple’s 10-year-old son and 3-year-old daughter also witnessed the shooting.

Authorities allege that the suspect fled with the youngest child but was arrested at an Allentown convenience store. They said the burglary and trespass charges stem from a protection from abuse order issued last month.
