Blue Christmas services planned at 2 churches

Blue Christmas services are planned at First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., Mineral Ridge, and Good Hope Lutheran Church, 12030 Market St., North Lima.

First Presbyterian’s will be at 5 p.m. Sunday. Christmas can be a painful time for some. The anguish of broken relationships, the insecurity of unemployment, the weariness of ill health, the pain of isolation all these can make people feel alone in the midst of the celebrating.

The service will include prayers, Scripture and music.

The Good Hope service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday. People will be invited to come forward and light a candle in memory of someone or to mark an event in their lives. Not everyone feels like celebrating during this season.
