Wendy's opens first of 'new' restaurants

DUBLIN, Ohio (AP) — Ohio-based fast-food giant Wendy’s is introducing its next generation of restaurant design.

Wendy’s planned to open the first of the newly designed outlets this morning across the street from its headquarters in the Columbus suburb of Dublin.

The Columbus Dispatch reports that the restaurant features a digital menu board, Wi-Fi bar, fireplace and flat-screen TVs. It also looks back at its beginnings with displays and memorabilia, such as signs, tables and chairs.

The patio features a larger-than-life bronze statue of Dave Thomas, who opened the first Wendy’s on East Broad Street in downtown Columbus in 1969.
