McDONALD

The McDonald Board of Education on Monday approved pay increases for central office staff in line with the 2.75 percent increase teachers recently received under a new three-year contract.

To receive 2.7 percent increases for the current and next two schools years, through the 2015-16 year, and retroactive to Aug. 1 are:

Pam Streb, from $37,389 to $38,417 this year; $39,473 next year; and $40,558 in 2015-16. She works full time, 241 days a year.

Diane Fossaceca of the central office will have her hourly rate increased from $15.78 an hour to $16.21 an hour this school year, retroactive to Aug. 1, then $16.65, then $17.20 in 2015-16. She works part time, eight hours a day, three days a week.

The board moved to hire Julie Lobaugh as high school secretary, starting March 1, 2014, on a one-year limited contract. She will replace retiring secretary Cheryl Sloane. She will start at the beginning high school secretary rate of $13.06 an hour. The salary is based on the Ohio Association of Public School Employees salary schedule.

That union is still negotiating a new contract with the board while working under an old, three-year agreement.

The board also approved giving Jessica Krumpak, director of special education, tuition reimbursement based on the current McDonald Education Association and McDonald school contract for credit courses taken.

She will receive $75 per quarter hour and $100 per semester hour.

The cost will be shared between McDonald and Weathersfield schools. The McDonald board’s share is not to exceed $500 per year. The districts share the director post.

In other business, the board approved an $18.50 an hour rate for Third Grade Reading Guarantee tutoring for first- and second-grade students. Early-intervention strategies are used in the after-school program, which will be conducted for one hour, two times a week from Jan. 13 to May 1, 2014.

Teachers include: Dana Larson, Michele O’Leary, Patricia Simmons, Ally Jones and Natalie Schadl.

The board nominated John Saganich president pro-tempore to preside over elections at the organizational meeting, to be followed by the regular meeting Jan. 13.
