Man, woman charged with disorderly conduct in Campbell
Staff report
CAMPBELL
A man and a woman are set for a 9 a.m. hearing today in Campbell Municipal Court after their arrest on charges of disorderly conduct early Sunday.
According to police, the man and woman got into a confrontation with police regarding the street-parking ban put into effect to allow snowplow access.
Shortly after midnight, an officer in the 300 block of Jackson Street noticed a car parked about 3 feet away from the curb, interfering with traffic.
The homeowner, identified as Derek Raymond Royal, 22, approached police and said he would move the car. Police discovered, however, that Royal’s driver’s license was suspended, and requested that someone else move the car.
A woman later identified as Royal’s girlfriend, 20-year-old D’Asia Hubbert, of East Midlothian Boulevard in Youngstown, approached police, refusing to provide her driver’s license to ensure that it was valid, and becoming argumentative and verbally abusive, according to the police report.
Hubbert continued arguing, even though the officer gave her warnings she faced a possible disorderly-conduct charge. The officer told her she would not receive a parking citation if she simply moved the car.
Hubbert was arrested on a charge of disorderly conduct, a fourth-degree misdemeanor.
Meanwhile, Royal began screaming profanities at police, and also was arrested on a disorderly-conduct charge.
Bond for both Hubbert and Royal was set at $750, with 10 percent cash or surety, which they posted.
