John Dellick assault hearing pushed back to January

CANFIELD — John Dellick's preliminary hearing in Mahoning County Area Court here for aggravated assault has been continued until Jan. 6.

Dellick was supposed to have the preliminary hearing today, but both his lawyer, Samuel Amendolara, and the special prosecutor assigned to the case requested, Brian Deckert, a senior assistant Ohio attorney general, filed a joint motion to continue the hearing late Friday.

Dellick, 19, the son of Judge Theresa Dellick of Mahoning County Juvenile Court, is accused of an aggravated assault in October. The victim of the assault told county sheriff's deputies Dellick rammed into his vehicle in Canfield Township after he yelled at him for littering.

The man also accused Dellick of saying racial insults to him and his wife.

Judge Dellick released a letter following the incident and supported her son's innocence.
