Vindicator Fall Athletes: Paige Bidinotto

As back-to-back district champions, the Canfield girls soccer team has high expectations.

Senior Paige Bidinotto has been a part of the Cardinals’ success for the past four years.

From the time she made her first varsity appearance as a freshman, to her final game in a Canfield uniform last month, Bidinotto has put her heart and soul in the game of soccer.

She said it’s been a great ride, even if it ended too soon.

“We did have a great run,” Bidinotto said. “Our coaches were so willing to help us and make us into the players that we were.”

Bidinotto began playing soccer at a young age in recreational leagues, which eventually turned into club leagues.

Her interest in the sport really peaked in eighth grade, just before high school.

“I started trying harder and did club training,” Bidinotto said. “From there I just always wanted to do my best.”

Phil Simone coaches both the boys and girls soccer teams at Canfield and Bidinotto said his involvement and commitment to both has made the program feel like one big family.

She plans to attend either Youngstown State University or Kent State University next fall to pursue a degree in pharmacy.

Bidinotto said she’s given a lot of thought to playing soccer at the next level, but knows how demanding her academic schedule could be.

If she has played her last competitive soccer game, Bidinotto said she would be satisfied with what she’s been able to accomplish.

“It was really nice having my last game far into the tournament and I know that I gave it my all,” she said.
