Former Ohio State University football coach Jim Tressel is moving up at the University of Akron.
Tressel, who was forced to resign at Ohio State in 2011 amid a scandal involving several players, on Wednesday was named executive vice president at Akron.
The Akron Beacon Journal reports that his job will be to help President Luis Proenza achieve his goals in the last months of his 15-year presidency.
It’s the third title Tressel has held at the university in the past 18 months, but he deflected suggestions that he could be lining up to be the next president when Proenza steps down in June.
The former Youngstown State University football coach said he will convene meetings of administrators, faculty and others and come up with some six-month goals. He makes $210,000 a year.
