Snow moves Saturday Pa. high school football games to Sunday
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Ahead of an expected third dose of wintry weather in less than a week, two state high school football championship games are being moved from Saturday to Sunday because of snow predicted to move through Pennsylvania and into the Northeast.
The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Athletic Association says the Class AA title game pitting Imhotep Charter against South Fayette will be at 1 p.m. Sunday. The class AAAA game featuring St. Joseph’s Prep against Central Catholic will kick off at 6 p.m. Sunday.
With 5 to 8 inches of snow forecast for the mid-state on Saturday, the league said it was concerned for the safety of players and fans traveling to the games in Hershey. Friday night’s Class A and Class AAA title games will go on as scheduled.
The National Weather Service is calling the arriving storm system “complex,” warning that it could affect much of the central and eastern U.S., and bring a mix of snow, slush, freezing rain, rain and even thunder. The Philadelphia area is expected to see an inch or 2 of snow.
