Though local car dealers sold fewer vehicles in November than they did in October, car sales in the Mahoning Valley were up 6.1 percent from November of last year.
According to data released this week by the Automobile Dealers Association of Eastern Ohio, local dealers moved 4,630 new and used vehicles in November, up from 4,533 during the same period last year.
Given the time of year and the Thanksgiving holiday, Steve Chos, executive vice president of the ADAEO, said he expected a dip in sales from October, when local dealers sold 5,640 vehicles.
“You’re going to have sales that are off from October,” he said. But he added that the bump in the year-over-year numbers was a positive sign.
Chevrolet led all other brands with 481 new and used vehicles sold, followed by Ford and GMC.
The Lordstown-built Chevrolet Cruze led all models with 141 units sold in the Valley. That was an increase of 51 units from last November.
The Silverado pickup saw a decrease in sales, with 29 fewer units sold than last year.
Greenwood Chevrolet led all local dealers, selling 238 vehicles.
Taylor Kia and Sweeny Buick rounded out the top three dealers, selling 175 and 163 vehicles, respectively.
