POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:
POLAND
Dec. 1
Drugs: A traffic stop on state Route 170 resulted in a minor-misdemeanor citation charging 19-year-old Alexander R. Rotz-Shafer of Elm Street, Struthers, with possession of drug-abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia. Rotz-Shafer, who also was charged with driving under suspension, had 21 grams of suspected marijuana and a digital scale, police said.
Theft: A man reported a 12-gauge shotgun stolen from his residence in the 3000 block of Saginaw Drive.
Dec. 2
Breaking and entering: Someone broke into a home in the 4900 block of Kennedy Road through a side door, though authorities found no signs of forced entry. Miscellaneous dumbbell weights and other items were removed.
Dec. 5
Theft: A Struthers Road man learned his debit card had been used without consent to make $360 worth of fraudulent purchases.
Dec. 6
Burglary: To a residence in the 6600 block of Stymie Road via a side door. An estimated $11,000 worth of jewelry was taken.
Dec. 8
Drugs: Police at Poland Township Park off Moore Road seized a suspected marijuana pipe, papers commonly used to roll marijuana, two suspected marijuana cigarettes and 0.5 grams of suspected marijuana.

Dec. 5
Theft: A Washington Boulevard woman reported the theft of her $150 bicycle from a nearby carport.
Theft: A $100 in-dash compact-disc player was removed from a car in the 100 block of Lemans Drive.
Identity fraud: A Mathews Road man discovered several fraudulent accounts had been opened in his name.
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Claybourne Avenue woman said a man borrowed her 2001 Buick Century to drive to Cleveland but failed to return the car.
Theft: A tailgate was removed from a pickup truck at a Market Street car dealership.
Forgery: Police arrested 23-year-old Jenna M. Cercone of Valley View Drive, Boardman, at Boardman Area Court on Market Street on one felony count of forgery after a family member, of Orlo Lane, discovered last September that 11 personal checks had been stolen, forged and cashed without permission for $15,300.
Burglary: Took place in the 500 block of East Western Reserve Road via a side door. Among items taken were a 9 mm handgun, a laptop computer and a rifle.
Dec. 6
Theft: A 13-year-old Struthers boy was charged with stealing a $20 shirt from Macy’s in the Southern Park Mall, then released to the custody of a guardian.
Harassment: A Pearson Circle woman said a man made a threatening call claiming he had followed her to work.
Theft: A Mathews Road man noticed $590 missing from a bedroom dresser.
Theft: A car at a Boardman-Poland Road restaurant was found with a smashed window. A tote bag containing credit card and other property was taken.
Identity fraud: A Youngstown woman who received a suspicious $296 bill found out her personal information had been used without authorization to open an account at Best Buy, 561 Boardman-Poland Road.
Stolen property: A Boardman boy, 13, faced a misdemeanor receiving-stolen-property charge after being accused of having a camera card that had been stolen from a Brookwood Road apartment.
Theft: A Canfield woman reported her wallet stolen while at Southern Park Mall.
Criminal damaging: A car at Southern Park Mall was found with a damaged passenger-side window.
Dec. 7
Theft: A woman stopped making payments on $4,000 worth of furniture she had rented from Eagle Rental Purchase, 6132 Market St.
Robbery: A security officer with Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, told police a suspected shoplifter tossed a bottle of rum he had stolen at the accuser as he tried to detain the man. The accuser was not struck, however.
Theft: Amy S. Frampton, 55, of Leslie Road, Lisbon, was charged with stealing eight jewelry items valued at $240 from Macy’s.
Theft: Police charged 34-year-old Billie J. Derr of state Route 305, Cortland, in the theft of two watch caps from Macy’s.
Attempted burglary: Someone cut a front-window screen and tried to pry open the window in an effort to enter a residence in the 600 block of Chestnut Lane.
Theft: A woman in her mid-40s stole $90 worth of perfume from Walgreens Pharmacy, 525 E. Midlothian Blvd.
Harassment: A Rockland Drive man said a former associate has made and sent unwanted calls and text messages to him.
Theft: A Lockwood Boulevard man reported a $250 handgun stolen from his vehicle.
Misuse of a credit card: A Warren woman realized her stolen card had been used for $747 worth of fraudulent activity that originated in the township.
Theft: A man in a red hat, black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans stole four TVs from Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, before two were recovered.
Dec. 8
Robbery: A Walmart loss-prevention official told authorities a man who had stolen a $196 set of headphones punched her in the jaw area then fled as she tried to detain him.
Attempted theft: A man reportedly tried to steal several $10 wooden pallets from behind Summitville Ceramic Tile Design Center, 631 Boardman-Canfield Road.
Misuse of a credit card: An Austintown woman discovered her stolen card had been used without permission at Target, 417 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Someone stole 150 feet of copper piping from a residence in the 80 block of Alburn Drive.
Harassment: A Wildwood Drive man said his brother’s former girlfriend continually makes and sends him such calls and text messages.
Aggravated menacing: A Poland man driving near U.S. Route 224 and Tiffany Boulevard reported a woman in a black Pontiac vehicle twice pointed a gun at him after having cut in front of him. The accuser drove away and was not harmed.
Theft: A woman in her 20s stole 300 pairs of undergarments as well as 10 bras from Pink in the Southern Park Mall. The loss was estimated at $3,350.
Arrest: A traffic stop on Alburn Drive led to 23-year-old Shuanell M. Richard’s arrest. Richard, of Kendis Circle, Youngstown, was wanted on a Youngstown warrant charging failure to appear in court.
Dec. 9
Arrest: Police on Market Street pulled over and charged Jeremy A. Bailey, 24, of Meadowbrook Avenue, Boardman, with operating a vehicle impaired.
Theft: Katherine E. Tate of West Earle Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with taking two hooded sweatshirts, a fragrance set, a pair of boots and a coat from the J.C. Penney store in Southern Park Mall. The 51-year-old Tate also was wanted on a probation-violation charge from Trumbull County.
Felonious assault: A student at Boardman High School, 7777 Glenwood Ave., told police that as he walked through the parking lot, someone in a silver truck intentionally swerved toward him. The truck’s passenger-side mirror struck the victim’s right shoulder as he tried to get out of harm’s way, a report showed.
Misuse of a credit card: A Crestview Drive man learned his debit card had been used to make $94.68 worth of fraudulent charges at a Valley Stream, N.Y., big-box store.
Theft: A woman in her late 30s rented but failed to return a vest, a shirt, a jacket and a pair of pants to Rondinelli Tuxedo Co., 845 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Two men left Chili’s Grill & Bar, 7303 Market St., without paying their $65 food bill.
Theft: A woman told police $200,000 to $300,000 worth of savings bonds were stolen from her Irma Avenue home.
Theft: Someone stole about $1,050 worth of women’s undergarments from Victoria’s Secret in the Southern Park Mall.
Arrest: Vincent R. Thomas, 26, faced a felony charge of violating a protection order after his grandmother alleged Thomas, of Paulin Drive, Poland, was at her township residence in violation of the order.
Theft: Andrea N. Bush, 31, of Douglas Street Northwest, Warren, was charged, accused of stealing five each of women’s scarves and baseball caps from T.J. Maxx, 717 Boardman-Poland Road.
Theft: Jennifer A. Digiantonio, 27, of Overbrook Drive, Canfield, was given a summons after $109 worth of merchandise, including a $34 pair of dress shoes, was stolen from Walmart.
