HEAP heating program runs through March 31

Eligible Mahoning County households can receive heating-utility bill assistance through the Home Energy Assistance Program Winter Crisis Program, which runs through March 31.

The program provides assistance to eligible households that are threatened with disconnection, already are disconnected, or have less than a 10-day supply of bulk fuel, and which have household income at or below 175 percent of the federal poverty guidelines.

A maximum one-time payment of up to $175 per heating season is available for eligible natural-gas households. Bulk-fuel households are eligible for up to $750, and customers using coal/wood are eligible for up to $350.

Individuals interested in receiving assistance must have a face-to-face interview at the Mahoning-Youngstown Community Action Partnership office in Youngstown, 1325 Fifth Ave., or in Sebring, at 305 N. 15th St.
