Drop-off clothing shed placed in Girard

Staff report

GIRARD

St. Pauly Textile has installed a clothing-collection shed at New Life Christian Fellowship, 2088 Tibbetts-Wick Road, for the community to use as a drop-off site for clothing.

The shed will be sponsored by New Life as a fundraiser and community service. The church ministry will receive $40 for every 1,000 pounds of clothing donated.

This program will keep clothing out of landfills, help those in need and provide New Life with funding. The clothing will be distributed throughout the United States and world to those who can use it, according to a press release.

St. Pauly is a family- owned, upstate New York-based company and a member of the Better Business Bureau. St. Pauly collects usable clothing, shoes, sneakers, belts, purses, linens, blankets and drapes. In 2012, more than 59 million garments were distributed to an estimated 7.5 million people worldwide through the St. Pauly program.

St. Pauly has more than 800 clothing drop-off sheds across New York and parts of Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont and Ohio.
