Cops probe fatal crash
HOWLAND
The Warren Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving a pedestrian that occurred between 9 p.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday on King Graves Road.
Antoinette M. Ross, 55, of Howland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The patrol said she was struck by a motor vehicle.
She was located Monday morning by passing motorists, who called police.
The crash remains under investigation by OSHP Warren Post. A search warrant has been obtained for a vehicle of interest.
Forensic evidence is being analyzed and will be forwarded to the Ohio State Highway Patrol Crime Laboratory for analysis.
Her daughter, Lexi, plays for the Howland High School girl’s basketball team. Monday evening, Coach John Diehl said of Antoinette Ross: “She was a great supporter of the team, never said a bad word [and] always asked what she could do to help. She was the perfect parent.”
Man arrested at house

Deandre H. Ware, 26, of Southern Boulevard was arrested at a house in the 1400 block of Norwood Street Northwest at 11:51 p.m. Saturday after a female resident of the home told police Ware was there despite there being a protection order against him. The 29-year-old woman also said Ware assaulted her before fleeing on foot. Ware was not found the first time, but police found him after the second time the woman called police later. Ware was taken to the Trumbull County jail. Police said Ware caused $600 in damage by breaking two windows.
Man robbed at home
WARREN
A 58-year-old Garden Street Northwest man reported that four to five men broke into his home at 6:42 a.m. Saturday by breaking out a window and robbing him while he was watching television. Two of the men had guns, and they pointed them at him while the others went through the house looking for items to steal, he said. One of the two men with the guns punched the victim in the mouth, knocking out two teeth and taking the man’s cellphone, he said. Ambulance personnel treated him at the scene. The phone was the only piece of property reported stolen.

Pa. bridge to close
GROVE CITY, PA.
A 1928-vintage bridge will close at 9 a.m. today because a recent inspection by state engineers revealed severe structural deficiencies in its deck and main steel girders, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced Monday afternoon.
The bridge carries Irishtown Road (Route 2005) over Canadian National Railroad tracks in Pine Township, Mercer County.
The bridge will remain closed until it can be repaired or replaced, said PennDOT, which ordered the closing. Replacement is scheduled in 2015.
Woman gets probation
JOHNSTOWN, Pa.
A federal judge has placed a 63-year-old Columbiana County woman on five years’ probation after she pleaded guilty to conspiring to possess and distribute 220 pounds or more of marijuana between March 2009 and May 2011.
Bonnie L. Chapman of Woodale Drive, Hanoverton, drew the sentence Monday from U.S. District Court Judge Kim R. Gibson, who ordered Chapman to serve the first year of her probation under house arrest, the U.S. attorney said.
Chapman was one of 15 defendants in the case, which was investigated by the FBI, the IRS, Pennsylvania State Police and various local police departments in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Pa. man arrested
NEW MIDDLETOWN
A Pennsylvania man was arrested on an aggravated assault charge after he reportedly carried a stun gun during a domestic dispute with a woman at a Main Street residence, village police said. When police went to the residence around midnight Sunday, the woman told them the man had pointed a handgun at her head. When police ordered the man, later identified as Derrick Smith, 37, of Manns Choice, Pa., to drop the object, they discovered it was a stun gun, according to a news release from Vincent D’Egidio, village police chief. Smith was taken to Mahoning County jail and made his initial appearance Monday morning in Struthers Municipal Court, where his bond was set at $1,000, the chief said. Smith remained jailed Monday evening.
