Marine Corps League gives $10,000 to Toys for Tots in Valley

YOUNGSTOWN

Tri-State Detachment 494 of the Marine Corps League donated $10,000 to the Marine Corps Reserve’s 2013 Toys for Tots campaign.

For the past two years, Harry Dampf of Canfield and other member of Tri-State Detachment 494 raised money to buy bicycles to be distributed through the Toys for Tots program in Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

But this year, said Dampf, past commandant of Tri-State Detachment 494, the organization decided to raise money for the general campaign for bicycles and other toys.

“Every penny is kept right here,” he said.

“We encourage organizations to get involved. The Salvation Army requests what it needs and the Marines Toys for Tots campaign supplies them,” Montano said.

People who want to donate new, unused and unwrapped toys and gifts to the Toys for Tots program can visit Toys for Tots.org for a list of the more than 200 toy drops in Trumbull and Mahoning counties.
