Visitors to Arms Museum today crafted handmade Christmas ornaments

YOUNGSTOWN

Visitors to the Arms Family Museum could see vintage ornaments Saturday – and then make their own ornaments in the hands-on history room.

Many of the vintage ornaments on display are also handmade.

“We wanted to do an event every weekend” during the current exhibit, said Leann Rich, manager of education and external relations.

It gives visitors a chance to try something new if they visit more than once, she added.

Lori Murphy of Boardman and Gabrielle Gibson of Wampum, Pa., tried their hand at making ornaments this weekend.

“We heard it was for kids down here, but we came anyway,” Murphy said, laughing.

Murphy has visited the museum in the past, but it was the first time for Gibson.

“She loves nostalgic stuff so I couldn’t wait to bring her here to see it,” Murphy said.
