St. Joseph Immaculate Heart of Mary School student council recently sponsored a breast cancer awareness day. Students were asked to donate 50 cents and wear pink or blue shirts on November’s jeans day.

Pink and blue ribbons promote breast cancer awareness for both women and men. Proceeds from jeans day were then donated to the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center.

“My step-grandmother died of breast cancer. I was able to wear pink in memory of her and donate to help others who have breast cancer,” eighth-grade student Mia Moran said.

SJIHM students and staff raised $100.50.
