Pavlik hearing continued; appears with noticeable wound
CANFIELD
The former world champion middleweight boxer, Kelly Pavlik, appeared in Canfield court on Friday for a theft charge, but officials said his pretrial hearing will again be continued.
Pavlik, 31, appeared to still be in the fighting business with a noticeable facial wound although he retired from boxing in January.
A cab driver accused Pavlik of failing to pay his $24 cab fare after leaving a South Meridian Road bar in the early morning hours of Sept. 18. The cab driver took the former boxer to his Canfield home.
Pavlik pleaded not guilty to the charge in a written notice of appearance to Mahoning County Court in Canfield in September.
This is the second time his pretrial hearing will be continued. A date has not been set for the next hearing.
