Hilltoppers celebrate Halloween

Hilltop Elementary School students celebrated Halloween with a parade around the school and then parties in their classrooms Oct. 31.
Each class had a chance to show off their costumes to the large crowd of families and friends who lined the sidewalks as the students paraded around the school. The students then entered the multi-purpose room where more guests were waiting to see them and take pictures.
The students then paraded through the hallways of the school, visited the other classrooms and were greeted by their fellow Hilltoppers, who traded high fives with them.
Each grade offered a variety of costumes, including the characters of Duck Dynasty, sports stars, princesses, cartoon characters, hippies, cowgirls and cowboys, flappers and, of course, the perennial superheroes, witches and ballerinas.
Several teachers and staff members also got into the Halloween spirit by dressing in costume. A number of teachers dressed up as Miss America Pageant contestants from various states, with their costumes reflecting attributes of the state they represented. Hilltop Principal Joe Maroni portrayed the emcee of the pageant and school secretary Kathy Palumbo was dressed as the newly-crowned Miss America.
When the parade was over, the students went back to their classrooms for Halloween parties. PTO volunteers in each classroom provided games for the children to play, such as pumpkin ring toss, hot potato with Halloween music and pin the nose on the pumpkin. Halloween crafts were also available for the children to make during the party and take home.
The Hilltop Elementary School PTO provided snacks and drinks for the parties.
